COLUMBUS, Ohio - The west side is improving infrastructure around the area for the Hollywood Casino Columbus expected to open this fall.Representatives from businesses that surround the new casino are excited for the addition and said that they believed that it will bring a much-needed enhancement to west Columbus.

Dayna Sokol, president of TeeJay’s Country Place Restaurant, said that she can only see the positives about the new casino.“Only great things can happen over here,” Sokol said. “Just the excitement from all the businesses up and down West Broad, I think has brought a whole new revitalization to this side of town.”Sokol said that the company invested more than $500,000 into an expansion and added nearly 30 new employees.

Jerry Hunt, general manager of club The Mansion, said that its Detroit-based owner put $1 million into the new 20,000-square-foot club.“We did everything ground up, so we gutted the place and everything you see before you,” Hunt said. “It was an air craft hangar before we got done with it.” Hunt said that the community enhancements were a group effort.“It’s all synergy.” Hunt said “Everybody’s got to work together to win.”

Bobby Layman Chevrolet, which has been in business more 30 years, is receiving a multi-million-dollar makeover.“We’re taking down an old building and building a new building,” said Linda Layman, executive director of Bobby layman Chevrolet. “We decided to stay here, and our building is going to be beautiful.”

The casino is projected to open this fall, but local business owners and investors believe this is only the beginning of what they believe will be long term growth for the west side
