West Side drivers to soon be on new roads

COLUMBUS – As promised, Central Ohio drivers will be travelling on brand new pavement on seven miles of I-270 on the west side before November 1. ODOT’s $80 million project is almost complete.

The west side project rebuilt every lane of Interstate 270 from US 62 to Roberts Road, widened 11 bridges and reconstructed the entrance and exit ramps at Georgesville Road, Broad St. and I-70. This was the first major rehabilitation of this section of I-270 since it was constructed more than 50 years ago.

In order to get motorists on the new pavement and in their final traffic pattern, there will be significant impacts to traffic for the next two weeks, but only during the overnight hours. Seven miles of concrete barrier and cross over traffic patterns have to be removed.
